Summer in Metro Detroit means the long-awaited return of food trucks! Whether you’re a passionate foodie seeking unique flavors or a busy professional in need of a quick and satisfying meal, these mobile kitchens bring gourmet cuisine to the streets. In Metro Detroit, we are fortunate to have some incredible food trucks rolling around. Many of these have been area staples with a packed schedule. Whether you’re a food truck pro or new to the scene, you’ll want to add stopping at these popular food trucks to your summer calendar.
HERO OR VILLAIN
22965 Woodward Avenue, Ferndale
Hero or Villain serves gourmet sandwiches and wraps, aptly named after iconic heroes and villains. Available for private events and popular gatherings throughout the season, this truck is a must-try. With sandwiches like the Thor (turkey, bacon, cheddar, and more on grilled sourdough) to Kingpin (chicken, mozzarella, and pesto), there is something for everyone. Pair these with the Wookie waffle fries or loaded Bowcaster ones with feta, giardiniera, and sriracha mayo. With two food trucks, Hero or Villain is all over the place, with a calendar full of events for you to pop up at. Craving a delicious sandwich outside of these dates? IMPASTO
Impasto delivers Italian street food with a twist, featuring its Italian-inspired wraps, appetizers, and more. On the menu, appetizers range from parmesan-truffle fries and risotto bites to Impasto bites (made with their Impasto bread, fried, and tossed in parmesan and herbs). As for the Impasto flatbread wraps, options include Cali Chicken (bacon, avocado lime aioli), Meatball, Spicy Veggie (griddled tomatoes, roasted red peppers, red onion, hot cherry peppers, spicy garlic aioli), Steak Caesar, and more. THE PITA POST
The Pita Post serves fresh, Mediterranean-inspired pocket pitas. Owner Tal Sasson shares, “The Schnitzel is the star but [we also have] lots of amazing vegan options. [We’re] mostly available for private events but are open to the public on Wednesdays at Detroit Fleat in Ferndale and on Sundays at the Birmingham Farmers Market.” The schnitzel features crispy chicken, cucumber tomato salad, and red cabbage, and is topped with house ranch and celery seed sauce. You can also find choices with falafel, shawarma, and more.
FORK IN NIGERIA

For an authentic taste of Nigerian cuisine, Fork in Nigeria brings the rich flavors of West Africa to Metro Detroit. From jollof rice and fried plantains to fufu and akara balls (bean cakes), the dishes are bursting with traditional spices and cooked to perfection. With multiple trucks regularly around and attending pop-ups, Fork in Nigeria is just waiting for you to try it out. The meals are a culinary journey that food lovers won’t want to miss. DETROIT 75 KITCHEN

Known for its flavorful sandwiches and vibrant street food, Detroit 75 Kitchen has earned a loyal following for good reason. The menu features items like the famous 3rd Street Detroit Cheesesteak, Atwater Chicken, Russell Street Vegetarian, and garlic cilantro fries. REGINA’S FOOD TRUCK
Regina’s Food Truck offers authentic Mexican cuisine to Metro Detroit, known for its flavorful entrees, fresh salsas, and more. From steak, chicken, or bean tacos to cheese quesadillas and taco bowls, Regina’s has you covered. The taco bowls offer a choice of protein over Mexican rice, cilantro, onion, and lime. As for the chips and salsa, choose from the mild avocado to the medium roasted red and tomatillo or the spicy chipotle.
